If the airbag has not deployed in an accident, it is unstable and to prevent it from deploying during the rescue, it is advisable to install an airbag catcher. This is placed around the steering wheel as a preventative measure to catch the airbag should it deploy.

Advantages

• Quick to install (within 10 sec.)- Safe to install. The advantage of this airbag catcher is that you do not need to place your body between the steering wheel and the victim, as this is a risk zone in the event of an unexploded airbag.
• Lateral energy absorption. Should the airbag deploy unintentionally, all forces are absorbed sideways.
• This means minimal forward expansion of the airbag and optimum safety for the victim and the
  rescuer.
• As long as the airbag catcher has not actually captured an airbag, it can be used again and again.
